Joe's: A Butcher Shop

Photographer: John Riegert
Date: December 4, 2003
Place: Main Street, Sharpsburg
Why this sign?
Hand painted signs that have likely been done the same way for 74 years. They have good kielbasa. [note: notice the wood corbels and faded paint "Bluemling Bros."]

I have shopped at Joe`s Butcher Shop for years and I am quite sure that Joe makes his signs the same way that he butchers his meat, the Old World Way, from scratch. If you ever get a chance to shop ther ask for the home-made sausage. I have never had better. The crew of friendly butchers always cut us just what we want. The meat is excellent but beware, the jokes are terrible.

I've always gotten my meat there and it's alway been excellent and the service is outstanding. They are just a small old fashioned business trying to survive competing with larger supermarket chains. I would prefer better quality meat and service any day to just being another nobody in line at the supermarket being rushed out the door with processed food!
